Before Your First Visit
At Mountainside Family Dental, we appreciate our patients, and we want your experience with us to be a positive one. We look forward to meeting you, getting to know you, and learning how we can help you achieve the healthy smile you want.
Both doctors chose to be dentists because of their love for the craft and desire to impact people's lives for the better. We want you to know that we value our time with you, and Dr. Kudla Sr. and Jr. will go above and beyond to ensure that each treatment you receive from us is coming from a place of passion.
If you have any comments, questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to tell us. Our staff wants to do everything they can to make your first visit as comfortable as possible.
What We Need Before Your First Appointment
At Mountainside Family Dental, your convenience and comfort are our top priority. We have a well-trained team focused on delivering the best patient care possible.
We ask patients to fill out their forms online before their first visit to streamline their experience. If you cannot do that, we ask you to arrive a little early so you can fill out your forms on an iPad. This information is critical to your care as it paints a much more descriptive picture of your health, allowing us to provide you with the best care possible.
We also ask you to bring your insurance ID cards and any form of payment you will be using for your appointment.
Our team will reach out to you and gather any additional information that we need from you before your appointment so that when you come in, you can relax in our chair.
Your First Visit at Our Mountainside Dentist Office
When it's time for your appointment, we'll escort you back to the treatment room, where you can get comfortably settled in our chair. Dr. Robert Kudla Jr. or Sr. will come in the room and meet with you. At this point, we introduce ourselves and listen to your concerns so we can understand your goals for your smile.
Once we’ve finished talking with you, we'll do a limited exam of your head and neck and the inside of your mouth. Then our assistant will take x-rays so we can get a good picture of what's going on in your mouth. Once the x-rays are completed, we finish our comprehensive exam of your mouth, including evaluating your gum health.
When the exams are completed, Dr. Kudla sits down with you to review the findings on your x-rays and discuss anything we might have seen while performing our exam. We will also use our CariVu system to examine the back teeth in your mouth. This device allows you to see any tooth decay or cavities in your teeth at the same time as us. It’s an effective technology that allows us to help patients understand what we're looking at so we can work together to make an informed decision on how to proceed with choosing treatment options.
Once we've completed the exam and shared our findings with you, we'll go over any appropriate treatment recommendations. After that, our treatment coordinator comes in to review the financial aspects of your treatment. We discuss your insurance benefits and payment options with you before performing any treatment to prevent patients from being surprised by their procedure's cost.
Then we'll proceed with a cleaning from one of our dentists, who can also do any treatment we have time for during your initial appointment if it's necessary. At the end of your visit, our treatment coordinator will help you set up any additional appointments you need in the future.
